DEAR MOTHER
So young and eager to learn,
swelling anticipation inside me did burn.
My dear loving mother always stood nigh,
Devoted to teaching and explaining "why".
Curiously running all over the place,
Dear mother never tired, but kept my pace.
I explored and investigated most of the time,
Dear mother encouraging an inquisitive mind.
As seasons changed, I grew older quite fast,
Friends replaced dear mother, a teenager at last.
Now full of independence, my intelligence did grow,
Already I knew more than dear mother could know.
If only she'd learn, "I know what is best",
But she never agreed and I continued life's test.
Through all of my displays of being so smart,
Dear mother still encouraged, with a kind loving heart.
Again Seasons passed, as mother and I grew older,
Now away from dear mother I wish I could hold her.
How quickly dear mother gained such wisdom,
And I realized the many lessons of life I had yet to come.
I'm as a small child, once again,
Filled with questions only time can fill in.
Dear mother as always still lovingly there,
Encouraging the pursuit of all that I dare.
Inspired by her enduring, and loving emotion,
I only pray I'll pass on such devotion.
Karmel (Greene) Larson
I believe this was a college assignment to write a poem, she chose me to write about. Now pregnant with her sixth child in 2011, "I wish I could hold her...Husband and children have replaced dear mother...and she is passing on much more devotion"!

SOULS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD

My Heart Slows its Beat...

My Lips Droop Sad-

My Eyes Gently Cry,

As I Wonder WHY?

I Think: IT COULD BE ME!

It Matters Not Why...

I Just Offer Food-Fruit-

My Soul Does Not Identify,

I Just Give a SIGH!

And Think: IT COULD BE ME!

I was driving home from shopping in Lacey (I was back in Olympia...helping Rich pack up Tyndell Circle as we were to move and retire to our newly purchased Arizona home) , and pulled up to the corner of Pacific and Fones. A woman, attractive and middle age, was holding a sign: "ANYTHING HELPS". I gave her some fruit leather and she responded "GOD BLESS YOU"! As I drove away, I teared up and thought of this poem to write. I thought of how blessed my life was...and to never take it for granted.

Poem I wrote while in Florida Disney World

(Christ on Bended Knees)

Pardoned

On Vacation three weeks We were,
Still work Needed to be Done-
Mom on the computer, Dad hurried Her…
Grandma and the Kids just along for Fun.

Bills can’t Wait, She was the Dutiful one,
And most the Morning it did Take-
Dad impatient, saying hurry Hon…
Agitated exasperated Wife, HE did Make.

Oh, Grandma sure did see it Coming,
Foolish Son, He might just ruin the day-
Wife beaten down, too late for Calming…
Distraught, She left, bills HE can Pay!

Hurt and offended, She finally Withdrew,
Accepting of his Folly, asked Her Pardon-
Grandma waited and waited, She knew…
He’d gone too far, Repent now Son!

Humiliated and Embarrassed She might be,
How would He Mend and Comfort,
Senseless, Would forgiveness set Him free…
Undertanding, Lovingly, He shows support.

Finally, with Humor, He Came,
She Serene, Graceful and at Ease-
Esteemed-Glowing with Love, No Shame…
As He followed Her, On Bended Knees!

AWAKE

Awake ‘tis Morn-
Romance in the Air…
Serene still Sleepy,
Entwined we Share.

Our Patio Chairs-
We rock and rock…
Listening to birds,
Talk, Talk, Talk.

Life simpler Now-
Time to Reflect…
Love is Effortless,
Our Spirits Connect.

This Our Final Chapter,
Gray is in our Hair…
Wouldn’t Change a Thing,
Great Memories we Share.

My Friendly Heron at Province

HERON AT PROVINCE

Heart is Heavy,
So Often in Life-
In Nature We See...
Peace from all Strife.

Heron has Hope,
He Sits Majestically-
Humans Trying to Cope...
God Sets Us Free!

NEW YEARS WITH STARKEYS 2009

IN CORBAN'S EYES

In Corban’s Eyes

They came from Texas
What a mix that six…
Four Girls and Two Boys,
New Years came to visit Us!

When Corban came in-
He commented to Makayla…
Grandpa and Grandma’s House is
Beautiful-You know that feelin?

Kelsie made friends with Pearl…
Our shy little Chihuahua ,
Emma was a princess-
Dressed in gowns to Twirl.

Aden pulled over our tree,
Christmas was over anyway-
Sadie just ate and ate and ate…
Makayla coming back you see!

For when they turn Nine,
On an airplane they fly…
For one on one time,
With Us they will Shine!
